Flexible Technologies, Inc. is an innovative service and manufacturing organization with experienced employees eager to continue a tradition of excellence. We specialize in custom engineering, quality manufacturing, and outstanding customer service.

Flexible Technologies is a member of the Plastics Solution Division of the Flex-Tek Group which is based in Greenwood, South Carolina. The Flex-Tek Plastics Solution Division's global headquarters is located in Greenville, SC. Flex-Tek is a division of Smiths Group, PLC, which is headquartered in London, England.

Flexible Technologies is a diverse organization providing products and solutions to the industrial, medical, automotive, vacuum cleaner and home appliance, manufacturing, and agricultural industries. Our customer base ranges from large OEM companies to small aftermarket distributors. The ability to adapt to meet each industry's unique needs has been our hallmark.

We offer a wide array of products including: blow-molded hoses, spiral wound hoses, self-retracting hoses, electrical hoses, and medical hoses and accessories to name a few. Flexible Technologies is ISO9001:2000 certified organization. We test our products to ASTM, UL, or customer specific standards in our onsite laboratory. We provide design and engineering services to meet our customers’ specific needs.

Flexible Technologies is committed to providing a working environment for all personnel that will minimize risk to the health of all employees and the general public. By working closely with customers and suppliers we have incorporated international standards programs such as ISO 14001 in our larger manufacturing facilities. We actively participate with customers on selecting material components that are less of an impact on the environment and we work closely with regulatory agencies within the communities to meet or exceed requirements.

Key measures such as accident rates, emissions, waste, electricity, and water usage are implemented into our corporate management system as part of socially responsible business practices, continual improvement, and as part of lessening the impact within the communities which we operate.

History

Flexible Technologies was founded in 1947, and opened the Abbeville, South Carolina plant in July of 1964. The Abbeville plant has grown and still serves as one of our key manufacturing plants today.

Flexible Technologies employees over 500 dedicated associates in Abbeville, South Carolina, Plymouth, Indiana, Georgetown, Massachusetts, Huntington Beach, California, Glasgow, Scotland, Lubeck, Germany, and Johor, Malaysia.

In 2000, Flexible Technologies was named South Carolina Manufacturer of the Year by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. The selection was based on criteria such as Quality Improvement of products, Quality of Life for associates, Environmental Stewardship and Community Partnerships.

In 2003, the Abbeville plant received the State Job Creator Award from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission and also, in 2003, the Company earned certification for ISO-14001 Environmental Standard and Flexible Technologies achieved ISO-9001:2000 certification for the Quality Standard. The South Carolina plants consistently earn recognition from the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce for Excellence in Safety.

Over the years, our products have been used in many diverse and exciting applications and have included:

Military and aerospace use, including hoses used on the space shuttles to prevent ice buildup during launch and also, included involvement in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, our on-board crew drinking hose was used on the “moon” missions.
Ducting for the ventilation system of the first nuclear powered submarine, the U.S.S. Nautilus
Our ducting was specified for the ventilation systems on iron lungs used to save the lives of polio victims in the 1950’s
HVAC insulation products used in the construction of the World Trade Center in New York
Automotive hoses used on NASCAR vehicles
