Director of Operations

This position is a Plant Manager’s position overseeing two facilities. (One located in the US and one International)

Job Summary:
Responsible to the General Manager for the overall direction of safety, quality assurance, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, continuous improvement and supply chain management for the Abbeville and Malaysia manufacturing sites. Develops related short-term and long-range plans and programs. Directs the effective implementation, maintenance and execution of all systems through the site’s managers. Liaisons with customers on quality issues and growth opportunities.

Essential Functions:
Provide leadership to the plant’s staff to ensure the various internal and external functions are operating efficiently and cohesively
Ensure that the plants meet or exceed key operating goals, i.e., safety, quality, & efficiency
Maintain positive engagement among associates and department managers
Maintain a close working relationship with key customers to ensure superior customer satisfaction
Timely and effective communication with upper management on key issues
Effectively manage relationships with cross functional support groups
Proactive and regular review of all key operating indices including appropriate reactions to variations
Directs and coordinates the plant’s activities to develop and implement short and long-range goals to meet business and profitability objectives.
Ensure minimum costs, prevent operations delays and to meet future growth by directing efforts of site management in overseeing manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain management, and quality assurance and review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing and facility problems.
Ensures the effective implementation, maintenance and execution of quality systems throughout the plants.
Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain manufacturing or outsourcing requirements to meet new or existing markets.
Develops and reviews preparation for financial analysis: for budget planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting, and submittal for CER’s.
Ensures through subordinates that standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production. Ensures a process of continuous improvement exists in each plant. Ensures fixed assets are preserved.
Develops, monitors and reports on operating costs within functional areas. Provides appropriate notice of cost and labor over runs. Implements solutions to problems related to same.

Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
Experience: 10+ years in a similar position
Skills: Resourceful and well-organized with superior interpersonal skills
Demonstrated capability in identifying opportunities for process improvement
Ability to execute the operational action plan to achieve business objectives
Established relationships with internal and external customers as well as direct and indirect reports
Proven ability to communicate and create a clear vision and strategy for his/her organization

Special Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years of practical and relevant experience within Manufacturing or Engineering Management
2+ years’ experience leading manufacturing team(s) in 24/7 operation
Experience in process improvement initiatives such as Standard Work for Leaders, 5S, Kaizen events and lean manufacturing
Travel involved for customer, supplier visits and to visit other facilities in reporting group.
